Training: Extinguishing agent additives in forest fires

Dr. Sthamer is offering a training day on the topic of extinguishing agent additives for fighting forest and vegetation fires for the first time. The one-day seminar is aimed at fire service leaders, fire protection consultants, forest fire fighting multipliers, instructors at state fire service schools, forestry staff and forest fire officers, as well as representatives from lower water authorities and environmental agencies.

Workshop – Block 1

  • What extinguishing agent additives are available for fighting vegetation fires (wetting agents and retardants)?
  • Environmental behavior of fire extinguishing agent additives (OECD, Bavaria, AT, environmental assessment)
  • Material compatibility
  • Testing methods and tests, application densities and effectiveness

Workshop – Block 2

  • Mixing ratios & blending rates
  • Incident site logistics, Sthamer emergency system and requirements for resources (vehicles, helicopters, firefighting aircraft)
  • Simple tactical wildfire forecast (ETW) including application options: water treatment or retardant
  • Water from the mains for hot spots
  • Block the application of an effective retardant
  • Securing during tactical fire operations

Workshop – Block 3

  • Company tour
  • Practical use of retardant in small-scale experiments
  • Practical use of tap water in small-scale experiments
  • Fire behavior on slopes (depending on weather conditions)
