Foam test at Munich Airport

In an airport emergency every second counts.

That's why airports count on the best equipment available. Fire engines which meet ICAO standard achieve high acceleration values rates and carry tons of fire extinguishing agent. The fire extinguishing foam used must also meet special performance criteria on kerosene and aviation fuel. With vaPUREx® LV ICAO C 3%, Dr Sthamer is setting new standards in ICAO certification: fast and lasting fire fighting success without PFAS.

Equally important is the compatibility of the fire extinguishing agent with the technology used. Due to the low viscosity of this Newtonian fire extinguishing foam agent, it can be used with all customary proportioning systems and venturi nozzles down to its lowest usable temperature. Due to its excellent foaming ability, vaPUREx® LV ICAO C can also be applied with hollow jet nozzles and monitors at 3 % proportioning rate. The front monitors (RM 35) used for the tests achieved the same throwing distance of 55m (main landing zone) with water, as they did with vaPUREx® LV ICAO C 3 % foam.

The foam discharged via HRET adheres to the fuselage, providing additional protection for passengers by cooling the airplane structure and extending the evacuation time.

Discharge via tire protection nozzles serves to protect the ARFF vehicle in unfavourable operating conditions.

vaPUREx® LV ICAO C 3 % can be used for both low and medium expansion foam applications. In a case of neighbourly fire assistance, vaPUREx® LV ICAO C can be used as wetting agent for fighting of class A fires just 0.5 to 1 % proportioning rate.

An all-round fire extinguishing foam agent, which also allows training exercises in accordance with ICAO and EASA standards at any airport.
