The Maxi Terminal Hamm<\/a> covers an area of around ten hectares and is a state-of-the-art container terminal. Up to 52,000 load units can be moved at the Hamm site every year. The special design of the handling crane also enables the loading of large tank containers (up to 75 tons). This makes the Maxi Terminal the only public and neutral container terminal designed for handling large containers up to 52 feet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The terminal focuses on the handling and storage of hazardous materials. A storage area for more than 1,000 hazardous goods containers was created for this purpose.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A comprehensive fire protection concept was developed in close consultation with the relevant authorities. As fire protection is to be implemented in a future-oriented and legally compliant manner, only a foam extinguishing agent that is produced without PFAS can be considered. The performance of the foam extinguishing agent in relation to the high diversity of stored chemicals should not be inferior to the known concepts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This challenge was met by Dr. STHAMER already in the planning phase.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In constructive cooperation with the concept creator and the specialist fire protection companies, a solution was developed in which the set protection targets were achieved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the course of the test, the focus was placed on the new vaPUREx\u00ae AR 3\/3 F-5. The alcohol-resistant high-performance foam extinguishing agent is used for firefighting with foam on polar and non-polar fire liquids. It is suitable for fighting pool fires as well as for extinguishing higher levels of water-miscible and immiscible fire liquids.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The requirements for the foam extinguishing agent result from the comprehensive consideration of possible incidents. These range from small leaks with secondary fires to accidents involving several large tank containers with various flammable goods. In order to minimize the risk of secondary fires, an extinguishing system concept was developed that allows foam to be discharged onto the potential fire site.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Neighboring containers must also be cooled with the foam jet. The foam covers and extinguishes any fuel that collects on the floor. If the fire is larger, the fuel is diverted from the storage area and can also be smothered with foam in a collecting basin using low expansion foam discharge points.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To ensure the exact mixing of vaPUREx\u00ae AR 3\/3 F-5 with 3 %<\/a><\/strong> To ensure optimum performance at all flow rates, the system installer relies on a third-generation FireDos proportioning system with a maximum flow rate of 20,000 L\/min. The suction line to the proportioning unit was dimensioned according to the maximum foam compound requirement. This ensures appropriate proportioning, full performance, and foam effectiveness in the event of an emergency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
