Criteria for foam compounds

Storage

STHAMER-foam concentrates can be stored for many years without any problems in their original containers or other suitable storage facilities upon observation of our storage recommendations. Temperature fluctuations between +45 °C/+50 °C and the freezing point of the foam concentrate do not impair their quality. This also applies to short-term freezing and thawing.

Frost resistance

Frost resistance of foam concentrates is required where freezing temperatures are expected during longer operations or storage.

Compatibility with other foam concentrates

Principally, protein foam concentrates may not be mixed with synthetic foam concentrates. Foam concentrates of the same type, however, can be mixed to any desired ratio upon immediate usage. When supplementing foam concentrate stocks, it is advisable to have a compatibility test carried out by our laboratory. The product data sheets contain additional information.

pH value

may be an indicator for quality changes. If it drops sharply, for example, in the case of a protein foam concentrate, the results are increased sedimentation and premature ageing; in the case of a synthetic foam concentrate, the product is likely to decompose and lose its fire extinguishing capability.

Physiological properties

STHAMER-fire extinguishing agents are physiologically harmless. Adverse physical effects are not to be expected when they are applied according to their intended purpose only. For further information, please refer to the product and safety data sheets.

Environmental compatibility

Viscosity

of a foam concentrate is important for a constant induction rate at low temperatures and for specifying foam concentrate pumps in stationary fire extinguishing installations.

Depending an the application temperature pump-supported induction may be necessary for highly viscous foam concentrates.
